Who is Law School Unlocked?

I am a former Stanford Law School admissions officer who has dedicated the last decade to coaching potential law students as they follow their dreams. I deliver warm, strategic coaching for applicants who want a clear plan and authentic essays that prove their potential.

If you are applying to law school and feeling overwhelmed by LSAC, essays, recommendations, timelines, and school strategy, you are not alone. I help applicants build a cohesive application package, submit with confidence, and make smart choices about where to apply and where to enroll.

Meet Indrani Stangl

I am a law school admissions coach and former Associate Director of Admissions at Stanford Law School. Over the course of my career in higher education and student services, I have evaluated applicants, advised students, and helped people present their strengths clearly, authentically, and strategically.

My coaching style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I am a true wordsmith, and I love helping clients find the clearest version of their story, especially when they are not sure what makes them stand out.

Who I work with

How I help with law school applications

Applying to law school is not “just a couple of essays.” Look at it as a multi-part project with real strategy behind it. I help clients manage the process end-to-end or jump in where support is most needed.

Strategy & planning

  • Building a balanced school list (including ED strategy, if relevant)

  • Timeline planning so you can submit early and calmly

  • Positioning: clarifying your “why law” and what you want schools to understand about you

Execution & LSAC logistics

  • Navigating the LSAC portal + Credential Assembly Service (CAS)

  • Transcripts, LSAC GPA/Academic Summary, and recommendations planning

Writing & application materials

  • Personal statement and supplemental essays including optionals

  • Résumé refinement for law school

  • Addenda and character & fitness disclosures (clear, appropriate framing)

After you submit

  • Interview preparation (if applicable)

  • Managing deposit deadlines and decision strategy

  • Scholarship essays/applications and negotiating financial aid

  • LOCIs when appropriate

My Mission

Law School Unlocked exists to help prospective law students navigate the application process with clarity, confidence, and strong storytelling—from the earliest planning stages through enrollment decisions. I believe great applicants are often overlooked when they do not have a clear strategy, a realistic timeline, or writing that communicates who they are and what they will contribute. My mission is to make this process more transparent and more human.

I support my clients by translating what admissions committees are actually looking for into practical next steps, helping them build a cohesive application narrative, and providing high-touch feedback that strengthens both content and voice. Whether you are first-generation, still in college, changing careers, or simply unsure how to present your experiences, I am here to help you submit with confidence and make smart decisions about where to apply and where to enroll.

My Approach

You will never be left wondering what to do next. My goal is to give you clarity and momentum and consistent support.

When we work together, you can expect:

  1. A clear plan (what matters most, and what can wait)

  2. Structured, actionable feedback on writing and strategy

  3. Support that is both honest and encouraging

  4. An application that feels polished and true to you

  5. Confidence!

No question is too small. The law school application process is stressful, and you do not have to do it alone.

A little more about me

I grew up on the Stanford University campus before the phrase “Silicon Valley” was coined. My parents are immigrants—my father, from Hungary, was the Director of Lane Medical Library, and my mother, from India, was a psychotherapist in Palo Alto. I am mixed-race and first-generation, and that perspective helps me connect with applicants who are navigating unfamiliar systems and expectations.

I spent most of my career at Stanford in student services roles with an admissions component, and eventually realized that helping people apply to graduate programs—especially law school—was the work I cared about most.

Outside of coaching, I love cooking and baking for family and friends, and I have volunteered with the same puppy rescue for over a decade. I live in Lake Tahoe with my husband and two rescue chihuahua mixes, Chapo and Ivy.
